Welcome to Mesa Verde United Methodist Church!

Thanks for visiting us online.

We are a caring and accepting family of seekers, believers, and doubters. We are united in knowing we love one another and that God loves us. We are open to everyonethose with questions, those looking for a spiritual home, and those with faith stories to tell. We believe in growing in grace, having fellowship and fun, and in making a difference in the world.

Mesa Verde UMC is a reconciling church. We affirm that through God's redeeming love for all, we are one in Christ. We respect the inherent and valuable contributions each member makes to the body of Christ. We celebrate our diversity and recognize the sacred worth and dignity of all persons regardless of sexual orientation, gender identification, race, age, ethnicity, physical or mental capacity, education, or economic or marital status.

In the Know

Pastor Brent Now Scheduling October Visits

Did you miss the opportunity to have a visit with Pastor Brent during July, August or September? Corinne Neal, our lay leader, is now scheduling visits for Pastor Brent during October. The visits may be one-on-one, two people or a group of people visiting with the pastor. Visits may be at the church, at your home, at Starbucks, at a restaurant, or anywhere that is convenient for you. Please contact Corinne, or the church office, if you would like to schedule a visit.

Bible Study Led by Pastor Brent Begins

Pastor Brent will begin a weekly (more or less) Bible study on Wednesday mornings at 9:30, beginning October 8. The first session will be “How to Beat People Up With the Bible.” After the first session, the participants will have input about what to study next. Everyone is invited. We will meet in the conference room in the Administration Building.

Church Directory

Photos for our new directory will be taken at church Oct. 8, 9, 10, and 11. Please be part of the directory and schedule your appointment on the patio or via the link above. Vacationing during our photo shoot? Let us know so that we can hopefully
make other arrangements for you. These photos will make perfect Christmas gifts, give you an opportunity for a professional family photo and you can invite anyone to get their professional picture taken, whether or not they want the picture included in the directory. Pictures with a pet, musical instrument, or special toy can add unique character to your picture. You will receive a free 8X10 photo as a thank you for being part of this project. For more information, contact Barbara Stewart.

Sunday School

Sunday School children should go into church first thing for a Moments with Children. Then they will go to their classes.

Emergency Cards Now Available

Have you filled out your emergency card yet? Everyone is encouraged to do so and turn it into the church office. The info on your card can save precious time if it is necessary for us to call the paramedics while you are at the church. It also provides us with contact information for your family should we need to reach them. We realize the cards contain personal and private data. Be assured that they will be kept in a secure location in the church office and that your information will be kept confidential. If you need a blank card, contact the church office or pick one up in the narthex on Sunday morning.

Prayer Request Cards

Green prayer request cards are available on Sunday mornings in the seat pockets of the chairs. You are welcome to fill out your prayer requests in order that they may become a part of the prayers of the community. Your prayer requests can also be communicated with the office in this way so that they will be included in the prayer chain.

Flower Chart

The new flower chart is up in the narthex. Please sign up to put flowers on the altar. Fresh cut flowers from your own garden (no, you can't pick the neighbors' blooms) are welcome!

Brown Bag Food Distribution Program

Mesa Verde UMC is honored to be part of Second Harvest's Brown Bag program. It is open to seniors 60 and over whose income does not exceed $1,354/mo. per person or $1,821/mo. per couple. There is no charge. Qualified participants may participate in other food programs, as well. See the calendar above for dates of distribution.

Grocery Sacks Needed for Brown Bag Program

We are in need of standard grocery store paper bags for the Brown Bag Program. Please drop them off in the kitchen or the church office.

Greeters Needed

We need greeters! Please take a moment to sign up on the bulletin board on the patio this Sunday!

What's New

MV's UMW will sponsor a presentation on earthquake preparedness. Everyone from the church and the neighborhood is invited! Brunch begins at 9:30 am. Bring a covered dish. For more information, contact Barbara Stewart or the church office.

What's Doing

It's a spooky time in the old church tonight! The neighborhood is invited to join us in our traditional Halloween Party, designed primarily for the small fry. Games, face painting, costume contest, and a haunted room! What more could a child ask for? For more information, contact the church office.

What's Up

In the last 20 years, CROP Hunger Walks  have raised more than $294 million to help people struggling to feed their families – both around the world and around the corner, and MVUMC has been a part of that effort for years! The walk will be held Oct. 19, starting at 1 pm. To walk, or to sponsor someone who walks, sign up on the church patio between services. For more information, contact Carlene Reuscher or the church office.

What Else

Laity Sunday will be held Oct. 12. Only one brief worship service that day, starting at 8:30 am. After that, everyone will be off to do service projects on the church campus and in the community.
