Welcome to Mesa Verde United Methodist Church!

Thanks for visiting us online.

We are a caring and accepting family of seekers, believers, and doubters. We are united in knowing we love one another and that God loves us. We are open to everyonethose with questions, those looking for a spiritual home, and those with faith stories to tell. We believe in growing in grace, having fellowship and fun, and in making a difference in the world.

Mesa Verde UMC is a reconciling church. We affirm that through God's redeeming love for all, we are one in Christ. We respect the inherent and valuable contributions each member makes to the body of Christ. We celebrate our diversity and recognize the sacred worth and dignity of all persons regardless of sexual orientation, gender identification, race, age, ethnicity, physical or mental capacity, education, or economic or marital status.

This year's boutique will be held Oct. 9 and 10. UMW women are looking for your input, contrubutions, and support. For more information, contact Cherie Korando.

Sign Up For Amazon Smile!

There is a new way to donate to Mesa Verde United Methodist Church–by shopping with Amazon. When you sign up, Amazon donates a portion of what you spend to our church! It costs nothing and signing up is simple.

Go to https://smile.amazon.com and sign in using your existing Amazon user name and password.  If you’re not already an Amazon shopper you can create them. You will log on and be able to choose MVUMC as your charity. Choose us by typing in Mesa Verde United Methodist Church. If you use the standard amazon.com link your shopping will not benefit MVUMC, so be sure to change your bookmark or favorites link to https://smile.amazon.com.

You will be on the full Amazon.com website, but in the upper left corner of your screen it will say, “Supporting Mesa Verde United Methodist Church.” Now you can support the church simply by buying what you want online!

Bible Study Led by Pastor Brent

Pastor Brent leads a weekly (more or less) Bible study on Wednesday mornings at 9:30 am. Everyone is invited. We  meet in the conference room in the Administration Building.

Sunday School

Sunday School children should go into church first thing for a Moments with Children. Then they will go to their classes.

We Need Your Old Eyeglasses!

UMW needs your old prescription eyeglasses to pass on to the Lions Club who then distributes them to people in need in developing countries where they will have the greatest impact. There is a box in the fellowhip hall entrance specifically for these items.

Prayer Request Cards

Green prayer request cards are available on Sunday mornings in the seat pockets of the chairs. You are welcome to fill out your prayer requests in order that they may become a part of the prayers of the community. Your prayer requests can also be communicated with the office in this way so that they will be included in the prayer chain.

Flower Chart

The new flower chart is up in the narthex. Please sign up to put flowers on the altar. Fresh cut flowers from your own garden (no, you can't pick the neighbors' blooms) are welcome!

Brown Bag Food Distribution Program

Mesa Verde UMC is honored to be part of Second Harvest's Brown Bag program. It is open to seniors 60 and over whose income does not exceed $1,354/mo. per person or $1,821/mo. per couple. What's New

Relive our Lord's entry into Jerusalem and the anticipated joy of his resurrection on Palm Sunday, Mar. 29. The kids will process into service bearing palm branches, celebrating Jesus' entry into Jerusalem. After second service, there will be a potluck supper for all and an Easter egg hunt for the little ones! Sign up on the patio or contact the church office. For more information, see Allison Rudalevige.

What's Doing

Whether death comes suddenly and unexpectedly, at the end of an illness, or as the conclusion to a long and well lived life, it is possible for Christians to be prepared for its arrival. "Packing for the Trip Home" is a four-part series on death and dying and how we can each be prepared for death - for our own and for the deaths of loved ones. Join us on Sundays, beginning Feb. 22, at 4 pm. Everyone is welcome.

What's Up

Enjoy a morning of gabbing and crafting as we make craft items for our fall boutique. Many, many hands are needed to make the boutique a success. Meet in the Fellowship Hall on Mar. 23 for a morning of fun! All craft items and supplies will be provided. For more information, contact Cherie Korando.

What Else

It's time to geg the church all spruced up for Easter! A church work day, sponsored by the Trustees will be held Sat., Mar. 14. Lunch will be provided. There are tasks for all levels of ability, from dusting the altar to jobs that take some elbow grease or specialized skill. Contact Jim Aust for details.

The Sancuary During Lent

For the Lenten season, the altar is dressed with black and gray cloth as a reminder that we shall all eventually die and that it is only in death that we can receive resurretion.

The rock cairn and concrete blocks symbolize Jesus' 40 days in the wilderness, and the wilderness places of our own lives.

The tares are reminiscent of the bare branches of winter and the hope of new life in the spring.

The purple candles remind us of the kingship of Jesus Christ and are reminiscent of the Advent candles.

The crucifix banner is a subtle reminder to us of the sacrifice that Jesus made for us on the cross.
