Methodist Men to Meet in October

Tuesday, October 21

This month's topic will be “Geology and Theology.”

What do our national parks tell us about God?

Pastor Mark will give us the answers.

We will start at 6:00 pm.

Food can be purchased for $10.00

We will be having a variety of Asian choices.

Sign up on the patio.

Men's Fellowship Widens Perspective

At the May meeting, Pastor Mark came through with a fascinating and interactive presentation on the ways our views of ourselves have been affected by both science (the Earth from Apollo) and science fiction (Star Trek stories and missions). He shared with us his highlights from Michio Kaku's new book, “The Physics of the Impossible,” and even ventured a description of string theory for the uninitiated. Fun meeting, and thanks to Mark Wiley for volunteering his thought-provoking energy and thoughts about God's views.

Our June 17 meeting will be another treat, with the leader of the Orange County Fair management, Ms.Becky Bailey-Findley, presenting a very timely summary of what we can expect to see this year at our local, wonderful fair, and what's new. Set aside 6-8 pm on Tuesday, June 17, for another interesting program. Food and price to be announced, and we'll meet at Fellowship Hall. Bob Mammano is arranging this meeting. Look for the signup sheet on the patio!

April Men's Night Out met on Tuesday, April 15, with dinner at the Golden Dragon. The speaker was Mike Wright. His topic: "Unleash your hidden asset in 2008."  It included ways to Increase your Financial Security & Peace of Mind; to Plan and pay for Long-Term Care; to Reduce debt without selling assets; to Make and witness a meaningful contribution to Church, Charity, Alma Mater; to Fund a College Education.

March Men's Night Out met on Tuesday, March 18, at the church. The group saw slides and power point of a trip through Africa by Jerry and Cheryl Searcy.

METHODIST MEN HEAR EXCITING SPEAKERS

From Antarctica to Cuba to Ireland…those were the interesting locales that were displayed by our own talented Methodist Men on the third Tuesday nights this year, ever since last March. Of the eight meetings three of them have been at Fellowship Hall, two at Mimi's, one at the Golden Dragon, and two at La Capilla.

If you have a favorite topic that you would like to share with this group, just let John Marshall or Bob Wood know and they will help make it happen. Over forty different men have come to the meetings this year. We have yet to hear about the inside scoop on many topics, such as local issues, latest medical advances, law enforcement issues, cascading opinions, and even global warming.

NOTE: The men of Mesa Verde meet on the third Tuesday of the month, usually at a nearby restaurant, for fellowship. There is no agenda, no business meeting, no officers, no dues. Occasionally they meet in the Fellowship Hall for a catered dinner.

For future nights out, watch the church bulletins and this website calendar. Please sign up on the patio after worship services. All men are invited to participate.
